# why does made to order take eight weeks?

**because nothing exists until an order clears.** there is no stock room. the twill is not pre-cut, the panels are not pre-sewn, the wordmark is not pre-embroidered. an order comes in, it joins a queue, and the eight weeks is the queue plus the making — sewn after the order by a partner workshop in seoul, to the label's own spec sheet.

## what actually happens in eight weeks

the first stretch is fabric: the cotton twill is cut for the order, not pulled from finished stock. after that, the six panels are sewn into the dome crown — a shape that holds badly if it is rushed, since the curve comes from how evenly the panel seams are pressed, not from a mold. the white wordmark is embroidered, not printed. each step waits its turn behind the orders ahead of it.

## why not just hold stock

holding stock would make delivery faster and would also make this a different kind of studio — one guessing sizes and colorways in advance and hoping they sell. made to order removes that guess. every hat made has a buyer already. the tradeoff is time, paid up front, in exchange for not producing anything that goes unworn in a warehouse. that is a real cost, not a marketing frame, and it is fair to decide it is not worth it.

it is also fair to expect the number to move. eight weeks is the usual case, not a guarantee. a run of orders landing in the same week pushes later ones back. seoul holidays in particular months can add a few days, and materials can run behind. that is simply how a small made-to-order schedule behaves, and it is worth knowing before ordering, not after.

if eight weeks does not work — a gift with a hard date, an event next month — this is not the right store for that order, and it is more honest to say so than to promise a rush that will not happen. there is no expedite option: every hat is made after its order, in turn.

what the wait buys is consistency: the same panel geometry, the same crown height, the same small wordmark, on every hat regardless of when in the queue it was cut. our [bucket hat](https://littlebitseoul.com/) is the only piece made this way, so the eight weeks is not a policy applied across a catalog — it is just what one hat, made properly and to order, actually takes.
